He's Alive

The gates and doors were barred and all the windows fastened down I spent the night in sleeplessness and rose at every sound half in hopeless sorrow and half in fear the day would find the soldiers breaking through to drag us all away Tür und Tor waren fest verriegelt und alle Fenster verschlossen. Schlaflos verbrachte ich die Nacht, fuhr auf bei jedem Geräusch. Hoffnungslos vor Sorge und Angst, dass am Tag Soldaten eindringen würden,um uns alle zu holen. And just before the sunrise I heard something at the wall the gate began to rattle and a voice began to call I hurried to the window and looked down into the street expecting swords and torches and the sound of soldiers feet Und genau vor Sonnenaufgang hörte ich etwas an der Mauer; ein Rütteln am Tor und eine Stimme, die rief. Ich eilte zum Fenster und schaute hinunter. In mir sah ich schon Schwerter und Fackeln und hörte Soldatenfüße trampeln.

There was no one there but Mary, so I went down to let her in John stood there beside me as she told us where she'd been she said they've moved Him in the night and none of us knows where the stone's been rolled away and now His body isn't there

Doch da stand niemand außer Maria so ging ich hinunter, um ihr öffnen. Johannes war bei mir als sie erzählte, wo sie gewesen war. Sie haben Ihn in der Nacht weggebracht und keiner von uns weiß, wohin. Der Stein war weggerollt und jetzt ist Sein Körper nicht mehr da.

We both ran t'ward the garden and then John ran on ahead we found the stone and the empty tomb just the way that Mary said but the winding sheet they wrapped Him in was just an empty shell and how or where they'd taken Him was more than I could tell

Wir beide liefen hin zum Garten und Johannes lief voraus. Wir fanden den Stein am leeren Grab genau, wie Maria gesagt hatte. Das Tuch, in dem Er eingewickelt war, war nur eine leere Hülle, und wie Er weggebracht worden war oder wohin war mir mehr als schleierhaft.

Something strange had happened there just what I didn't know John believed a miracle but I just turned to go circumstance and speculation didn't lift me very high 'cause I'd seen them crucify Him, and then I saw Him die

Etwas Seltsames war dort geschehn ich konnte es mir nicht erklären Johannes glaubte an ein Wunder aber ich wollte nur noch fort. Umstände und Spekulationen halfen mir nicht weiter, denn ich hatte gesehen, wie sie Ihn kreuzigten und auch, wie Er starb.

Back inside the house again the guilt and anguish came everything I'd promised Him just added to my shame when at last it came to choices I denied I knew His name and even if He was alive, it wouldn't be the same

Wieder im Haus fühlte ich nur noch Schuld und Qual. Alles, was ich Ihm versprochen hatte kam zu meiner Scham hinzu. Als es zur Entscheidung kam, verleugnete ich Seinen Namen und selbst, wenn Er noch leben würde, wäre nichts mehr wie es war.

Suddenly the air was filled with a strange and sweet perfume Light that came from everywhere drove shadows from the room Jesus stood before me with His arms held open wide and I fell down on my knees and I just clung on Him and cried

Auf einmal war die Luft gefüllt von einem seltsam süßen Duft. Licht kam von überall herbei und trieb die Schatten aus dem Raum. Da stand Jesus plötzlich vor mir, mit weit ausgebreiteten Armen; ich fiel auf meine Knie und klammerte mich weinend an Ihn.

He raised me to my feet and as I looked into His eyes love was shining out from them like sunlight from the skies guilt and my confusion disappeared in sweet release and every fear I'd ever had just melted into peace

Er zog mich wieder hoch und als ich Ihm in die Augen sah, strahlte Liebe aus ihnen hervor wie Sonnenlicht vom Himmel. Schuld und Bestürzung lösten sich auf in Nichts und alle Ängste, die ich jemals hatte, schmolzen einfach mit Frieden zusammen.
